There is mean-spirited “you’re wrong.”

That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the gifts people give me - of facts I didn’t know. Last April I was starting the interviews for the first Truth Summit. I wrote about the interview I’d done with Charles Gage on 9/11, delighted with what I’d learned. Someone wrote back, encouraging me to look into what Judy Wood had to say. He also let me know he’d received death threats for agreeing with her facts and conclusions. So I looked, came to the work of Judy Wood and Andrew Johnson, interviewed Andrew. Amazing information - facts.

I have learned so much, from that gift of, “You’re wrong.”

Years ago, at a Free Thinking Film Series, a friend was choosing to see Cool It, which took issue with what was being done about global warming. I had inner hissy fits - which I have since learned indicate I’m in the grip of a psy-op - but I went along and watched it too. It was the beginning of the scales falling off my eyes about the global warming scam.

Where else have I been wrong? Way back in 2006 I wrote a piece saying the Mohammed would be outraged at how his religion had been hijacked. It was a religion of peace, and look at the violence done in his name. At that time I had almost no web presence. My post must have been on page 30 a a web search. But still, someone found the post and wrote back to me, saying that, no, Mohammed would not be outraged. And he sent me half a dozen very non-peaceful quotes from the Quran. I asked for more evidence. I got it. We have been friends since then.

Note: my friend tells me I am his only quick success story - because I was able to listen to the facts he sent.

As for me, in this case, I didn’t have an inner hissy fit - most likely because I’d grown up with a basically negative view of religion, so it made sense that Islam was likewise not something good.

Recently I’ve had that gift, more than once, from Paul Gregory.

I sent out a piece by Matt Ehret. Paul wrote back about ways he had found Ehret untrustworthy. I appreciated, ever so much, what Paul said, because there were times when things had not felt right with what Ehret said, a couple of times with things around Islam and Communism. In those areas, I knew enough that either what I had learned was wrong, including from meticulous researchers like Bill Warner and Diana West, or Ehret - despite his glib assurance - was wrong. At other times, something felt off but I wasn’t knowledgeable enough. For example, he claimed he knew the truth about Khazaria - but everyone else I’d read said there was very little information, too little to be sure of much.

Then I passed on a video from a journalist who died recently, heralded as a brilliant truth-teller - John Pilger. The tribute included a link to Pilger’s video on Cambodia. I was impressed. But I had misgivings after someone sent a recent piece from Pilger - also very positive. It was on Palestine.:

Right near the start, I read: “as if they live in an open prison” I have heard so many references to Gaza being a prison, an open air prison, etc. In none of the references was there mention that the fence around Gaza was built by Israelis after a large number of terrorist attacks murdering people in Israel. On a bus. In a restaurant. Anyone. Anywhere. Very understandably, people living in Israel wanted to be safe. And in fact, after the fence was built, terrorist attacks within Israel dropped by 98%.

Still I didn’t look further into Pilger. So much comes into my inbox.

Then Paul Gregory sent an article on Pilger which was anything but positive. It pointed out the many times Pilger committed that ever-so-tempting sin of putting an AGENDA ahead of those pesky things, the facts:

Pilger was not really an investigative journalist at all, for he never did investigations. As a reporter who once worked closely with him explained it to me, Pilger was a polemicist who went out looking for what he wanted to find.

Therein lies the essential transience of Pilger’s life’s work, for while there is much suffering and evil in the international order, a journalist’s first duty, allowing for personal biases and partial information, is to describe the world as it is and not as they might wish it to be. Pilger, by contrast, fabricated his conclusions in order to accord with his premises. This was always his method and I will give examples of this malpractice from his output on two particular issues. The first is his celebrated reporting from Cambodia and the second concerns the wars in the former Yugoslavia, a region he neither knew nor understood.

Because Paul Gregory twice came with facts - information - so extremely helpful, actually essential for knowing the truth, I invited him to be a guest on THOUGHT TALK.

It doesn’t mean it’s always easy for me to learn. But I think I’ve made the fundamental point. It’s a gift to learn we’re wrong.

By the way, it’s when I’ve gone deeply down a rabbit-hole that I’m most able to spot untruths - something I’ve done several times recently in pieces heralded by the alternative media, all linked to blind spots around Islam.

The first was The Fall of the Cabal, lauded by Sorenson of StopWorldControl, in fact twice aired on StopWorldControl. I watched - and the content became more and more jarring - notably pro-Islam and then increasingly anti-Semitic. For example, it was noted that the letters of Ashkenazi (many Jews are Ashkenazi) and Nazi are the same, which is surely significant - something like that. Here’s part of what I wrote::

Islam is presented as in control of Jerusalem when the nasty murderous Crusaders came. There’s no mention that Christians had long been in control of Jerusalem and then Islamics aggressed - attacked and eventually took control.

Why no reference to Islamic aggression?

Then - another important omission - it sounds as if the Crusaders, for no reason, came and slaughtered innocent Islamics.

The reality: for 2 centuries, Christian leaders in the East had been begging the various popes in Rome to send help.

Next: a significant inaccuracy. It’s mentioned (no source given) that the Crusaders murdered 2 million Islamics. I’ve read (but do not recall the source) that this kind of figure isn’t plausible, given the relatively small number of Crusaders, who would each have had to slaughter an utterly implausible number of people.

Here I won’t go further into the analysis.

What matters: together we know more than any of us alone. I have done down some rabbit holes. Other people have investigated others.

And that brings me to THOUGHT TALK - a place where, thinking together, we can go further, pool out knowledge, glad when we find out we’re wrong, building based on more facts, more exploration, more thinking.
