Dear Elsa,

I was born in 1939. Dad joined the Royal Navy, Mum's two brothers, the British Army, Leslie, 8th Army - The Desert Rats, Bob, the Guards, battlefield commission, liberated Bergen Belsen.

I hope to G-d the British abstained. I am mortified by the moral travesty.

One of my dad's older brothers, Uncle George, ran the Co-op bakery in Tewkesbury, while delivering to the farms he saw a young PoW working in a field. Farmer said he was a decent fellow. Uncle took him home for their Sunday dinner for the rest of the war. About 15 years ago that, now elderly, PoW told the German papers. My two cousins were invited to Germany and celebrated nationally.

Anthropologists know it takes just 12-15% of a population in order to control the rest. My insides are in turmoil. We were as bad as the them but knew to do better.

Thank you Elsa, keep up the great work.

Rod

Thanks Elsa for the video of Mr. William Toel.

Soldiers to Souldiers…
