Yes: the US government killed its own World War I vets. Why they asked for what they had been promised. A bonus for having fought in World War I. Hoover was the president. He watched as his soldiers, on his orders, gassed the vets, burned their shelters. MacArthur and Patton led the troops. MacArthur went even further than he was asked to. Patton took part - including against the soldier who had saved his life.

This might have shocked me even 10 years ago, but no surprise at all in light of the recent years of dystopic revelations.
