Often we're numb to the pain. It's just the way it is. THERE IS A BETTER WAY. BUILD COMMUNITY. Come join.
I think of being an outsider in childhood. I knew it mattered to have a skipping rope - that way, other girls would play with me.
I don’t remember ever asking myself, what would it be like, to be one of “them” - an insider.
I had no idea what that might feel like. And I didn’t even imagine it.
Even now, I can’t imagine what it would be like, to be 7 and an insider. Going to school, looking forward to being with friends. I looked forward to learning. Not to being with the kids. Not that there was spoken hostility, let alone physical aggression.
As for being an outsider, I was neutral about it. It was just a reality - like the shoes I was wearing, which were the same as everyone else’s shoes. I was a kid back when everyone - where I lived anyway - had to wear the same school uniform.
There has been a long-term benefit to being an outsider as a child. I just don’t care if someone calls me a Nazi or a conspiracy theorist or some kind of controlled opposition - or a liar and a fake - whatever.
Hey, scat! Go hissy-fitting somewhere else! That’s my response. I just don’t care.
But I also know the pleasure of being with like-minded people - though now so many like-minded people worry about: who is controlled opposition. And they’re right that there is a lot of controlled opposition - as well as many people who are just, for example, closed to seeing many aspects of what is going on.
All the same, in the midst of all that, I’m setting up a community. My deep sense is that the power of connection can matter enormously.

For a moment, listen to what is possible.
How did this song come to be? As the blurb says:
Matthew Paul Miller - known by his Hebrew name Matisyahu - is a Jewish reggae singer. In 2018 he asked 3,000 Muslims and Jews in Haifa (none of whom had ever met before) to come together and learn the song "One Day" with him in less than an hour
I also sent the song out yesterday. Many people wrote to tell me they loved it.
A couple of people answered differently: you can’t make friends with people out to kill you.
That’s not what I’m suggesting. In fact, I definitely would not suggest that!!!
I’m suggesting we don’t let “them” - the predators as well as people out to kill us - divide us. “They” have been behind war after war. I have posters from France from during World War I: the German as monsters with fangs.
All the same, it’s not easy, putting One Day into life on a worldwide level. Easier to do that, though, than to live the horrors of hate and war.
With war, “they” win. The predators.
I prefer, “they” lose, and we win.
As I wrote yesterday, there are only, I have heard many times, 3000 of “them,” and only 300 maximum of “them” make any major decisions.
We number in the billions.
If we are together, One Day is now.
“They” need us not to be together.
Listen to this song when you doubt we can be together.

in every community, be it small (a school) or bigger (a neighbourhood, a football club, a city) there are in-groups and out-groups, its members often recognisable only to those that belong to a particular in-group. popular girls, or boys, at a highschool are a good example: they are always defined by particular regulations (clothing, behaviour) only known to the in-group. the same pattern applies to that mysterious, infamous 'Committee of 300', the most powerful and wealthiest families at the top of the decision-making pyramid - https://mcdermod.substack.com/p/the-committee-of-300
Your spirit makes me smile, good energy. A big something in this chaos.
